Americana Style: Wooden Ships Brand

Girl in red white and blue knit sweater at the beach.

This month I’m happy to introduce you to Wooden Ships by Paola Buendia. It’s a brand that’s not only environmentally conscious, but ethically influenced as well. I’m wearing their knitted striped sweater which is part of their Americana collection.

I initially fell in love with the brand because of their casual chic design. I like that the sweaters have an oversized look and that they are extremely light, not bulky. This makes it easy to carry along in a purse or tie around your waste incase the day warms up or to wear when it cools down. The fabric looks and feels soft, breathable, and comfortable. These are some of the main qualities I look for when shopping for something new to add to my wardrobe.

About the brand:

I’m happy to partner with a brand that ethically produces its knitwear in Bali. They created a program to break the cultural barrier by training women to operate the knitting machines which were traditionally operated by men! They also offer fair wages and training opportunities for growth.

They are reducing the carbon footprint by using solar energy. As of 2017 Wooden Ships is 85% powered by the sun. They also use eco-friendly oxo-degradable bags for packaging, and recycle all paper, plastic, glass, cardboard and metal used in the factory.

Now if that wasn’t enough, Wooden Ships also donates yearly to important environmental causes such as Earth Justice, and the Environmental Defense Fund.

I love when fashion and important causes collide. It makes me feel good to wear a garment that is helping make a positive impact in the world. From manufacturing, to packaging Wooden Ships is creating change to benefit the planet. What do you guys think, isn’t this an awesome brand?

The rest of the sweater selection is beautifully and uniquely designed with the red white and blue Americana theme just in time for all your 4th of July celebrations. Take a peek at these and other styles on their website now!

What an amazing brand and I love all of their sweaters! It’s wonderful that not only are their sweater ethically made but that they trained women to operate the knitting machines. I always love when you can support a brand doing amazing things and get to wear something cute at the same time!

Oooh thanks for this FYI Tania. I’ve been wanting to find and add more sustainable pieces into my wardrobe/life but it’s so hard to find decent companies who actually do make and live by those principles.
